Hanging plants do something no other plant format can. They add greenery without taking floor space. A trailing vine over a doorway, a basket above a kitchen island, a fern off a pergola beam. These are positions no pot or tree can fill.
The Designer Vertical Gardens hanging plant range covers four formats: baskets, trailing vines, hanging bushes, and statement disc chandeliers. Foliage varieties include ferns (Boston, lady, sword), ivy (English, Pothos, Philodendron, jade leaf), succulents (string of pearls, tradescantia), flowering (bougainvillea, jasmine, petunia, geraniums, hanging roses), and seasonal lines.
Indoor and UV-rated outdoor variants are available. UV-rated stock includes UVTEX inhibitors integrated within the leaf material itself and is SGS-tested to 5,000 hours of accelerated UV exposure. Indoor-only varieties are not rated for full sun and should not be placed in direct exposure. Commonly searched as fake hanging plants, faux hanging baskets, or artificial trailing plants.
The general rule is to hang the foliage at eye level when standing, or slightly above. For trailing vines over a doorway, the bottom of the trail should sit just above head height (around 2m from floor). Trailing too low creates an obstacle. Hung too high and the foliage reads as disconnected from the room.
Most hanging plants and baskets in the range weigh between 200g and 1.5kg. Light enough for a standard plasterboard ceiling hook rated to 5kg. Heavier disc chandeliers and dense flowering baskets need a hook rated to 10kg or installation into a stud or joist. Outdoor installations into timber beams or pergola rafters take standard screw-in hooks.
Single hanging plants read as accent pieces. Three or more at varied heights read as a styled installation. For pergolas, hang three to five at staggered drops along the beam line. For kitchens, two hanging plants flanking the central pendant light works as a balanced trio.
Most installations pair hanging plants with one or more of the following. Hanging pots for plants that ship as standalone foliage without a built-in basket. UV Protectant Spray as an annual surface layer for outdoor installations in the most exposed sun positions. Standard ceiling hooks, S-hooks, and macramé hangers are available through hardware stores for the actual mounting.

Yes. The terms fake hanging plants, faux hanging baskets, and artificial hanging plants describe the same product category. The Designer Vertical Gardens range covers baskets, trailing vines, hanging bushes, flowering varieties, and disc chandeliers, with both indoor and UV-rated outdoor stock.
UV-rated stock is suitable for full outdoor installation. UV-rated lines are SGS-tested to 5,000 hours of accelerated UV exposure, with UVTEX inhibitors integrated within the leaf material rather than sprayed on. Indoor-only varieties (typically darker-leaved trailing vines and some flowering arrangements) will fade in direct sun and should be kept inside.
The UV-rated tag appears on the individual product page, and outdoor-rated items show in the dedicated UV-resistant collection. If the product page does not state UV rating, the item is indoor-only.
Most baskets ship with a built-in chain or rope and need only a ceiling hook or wall bracket. Trailing vines without a basket usually have a top loop or stem that can be tied or hooked. Outdoor installations onto timber pergola beams take a standard screw-in hook. Plasterboard ceilings take a toggle anchor rated to the plant weight.
Most hanging plants in the range weigh between 200g and 1.5kg. A standard 5kg-rated ceiling hook is sufficient. Heavier flowering baskets and disc chandeliers can reach 2kg to 3kg and need a 10kg-rated hook or a fixing into a stud or joist. Individual product pages list the weight.
The foliage should sit at eye level when standing, or slightly above. For trailing vines over a doorway, the bottom of the trail should clear head height (around 2m from floor). For pergolas, vary the drop heights of multiple plants for visual rhythm rather than hanging them all at the same level.
No watering, pruning, or fertilising. Dust accumulates on top-facing foliage and trailing tips. A light shake every few months clears most of it. For deeper cleaning, wipe leaves with a soft damp cloth or use artificial plant cleaner spray. Outdoor installations get rinsed naturally by rainfall.
All hanging plants carry a 12-month warranty. UV-rated outdoor stock is also backed by the SGS 5,000-hour UV certification, which is the independent measure of UV performance well beyond the warranty term.
Yes. The foliage is non-toxic and contains no pesticides, fertilisers, or live plant matter that pets may chew. There is no pollen, sap, or allergen profile. Hanging installations should still be positioned out of reach of cats and large dogs that may jump at them.
Yes. The range is specified by hospitality venues, retail fitouts, hotels, body corporates, and event stylists across Australia. Trade and reseller accounts are available on application. For fire-rated installations in public buildings, refer to the fire-rated product range.
For exposed positions (apartment balconies, rooftop terraces, coastal properties), use heavy-duty hooks rated to twice the plant weight, and consider an additional fishing-line or wire tether between the basket and the wall. Disc chandeliers and lighter baskets benefit from a weighted base inside the pot to lower the centre of gravity.
Yes, UV-rated stock is suitable for installation around pools. The leaf material is unaffected by chlorine spray or splash. Periodic rinsing with fresh water clears any pool-water residue. Indoor-only hanging plants should not be installed in pool zones.
Delivery is calculated at checkout based on order size and shipping address. Smaller hanging baskets and trailing vines ship in standard satchels. Larger disc chandeliers may require freight handling. Full delivery information is on the FAQ & Delivery page.
