Expert answers for installing artificial flower walls, joining green wall panels, styling faux plants, hanging vines, cleaning artificial plants, UV protection and choosing the right greenery for your space.
Installing an artificial flower wall is easy when you buy hand-assembled panels from Designer Vertical Gardens. Choose the most suitable faux flower panels for your home or office.
Our flower wall comes in 40cm x 60cm size. Start by measuring the length and width of your space to determine how many flower walls you will need. As a guide, allow around 4 panels per square metre. The flower wall can then be joined together using cable ties and stapled at 25cm intervals to the wall, or alternatively fixed using screws.
Select the vase considering the length of the stems. The height of the stems should be two to three times higher than the vase, and the width of the stems should be wider than the pot. Choose a unique vase or pot to make the arrangement look more impactful.
Use stems of different heights for an organic look. After placing your stems in the vase, bend and fluff the stems to make them look natural. You can also use a clear resin inside if you wish to imitate water.
You can easily connect flower wall panels by using the clips along the side of the panels. Simply push the spear through the hole and then cable tie the panels together for extra strength.
Artificial plants create a vibrant and welcoming environment for any space. Whether you are buying artificial plants for your home or office, keep adding variation in plant type and size. You can also change artificial plants seasonally for a refreshed look.
For larger spaces, use a plant that is tall, ideally at least 1m high, then place smaller potted plants around the base if you want to create an artificial plant cluster.
Flower wall panels are perfect for attaching onto internal walls, such as bedroom walls, lounge room features, retail displays and event backdrops. They soften colour accents, add visual interest and create an easy photo-ready feature.
Living walls are also known as vertical gardens or green walls. They are used to bring greenery into homes, offices and commercial spaces. A green wall can create a modern, sophisticated look using hanging plant pots, a vertical frame, a portable stand or artificial green wall panels.
Good quality artificial vertical gardens can last for many years. If you apply regular UV protection spray, you may be able to achieve a lifespan of 8+ years depending on exposure. Cheaper artificial vertical gardens commonly sold through large outlets may only last around 12 months before cracking from the sun.
It is challenging to hang vines on walls as every surface requires something different. Push pins, trim nails, clear tape or small hooks can help hang strands and vines at home. Stick hooks on the wall depending on the number of vines your plant has and hang them accordingly.
For a more fairytale-like wall using artificial potted plants, use wall pots and add stems by placing foam inside and pushing the stem into the foam. Adhesive hooks or shelves can also help reduce the risk of wall damage.
Fake plants have restricted heights, but you can still increase their height using plant shelf extensions or tall planters. Fill the base of fake plant pots and planters with dirt, rocks, foam blocks or moss to indirectly increase the plant size.
You can also stuff the pot with reused or scrap materials such as wrapping paper, cardboard or other unwanted plastic. Finish the top with attractive artificial rocks, moss or decorative filler.
Begin by filling the base with dirt, rocks, foam blocks, sand or dry floral oasis. Push the spike of the artificial plant into the pot, then cover the top with moss, rocks or decorative filler.
You may also decorate it with fern picks, boxwood picks or additional artificial stems to enhance the look of the plant.
You can easily add colour to a green wall by adding Designer Vertical Gardens stems and bushes. Poke them through the existing green wall and cable tie the stems into place against the backing of the green wall.
You can quickly and easily create a green wall circle by purchasing a vertical garden panel and cutting it to shape. Start by getting a piece of cardboard and drawing the required circle on it.
Then turn your green wall panel over with the back facing up and place your circular cut-out on the panel. Cut along the outside of the cardboard to create your green wall circle.
The easiest way to clean your artificial plant is by using a plant cleaner spray such as the Designer Vertical Gardens spray, which is soft on plastics but tough on grime.
Alternatively, you can use 95% water, 1% aloe vera, 3% low strength detergent and 1% common oil to help restore shine.
Thoroughly clean your faux plants first. Use a damp cloth or spray if necessary to clear debris and dust. Once the moisture dries off, apply a UV resistant spray.
Cleaning the plant beforehand helps ensure a thorough and even spread of the spray. Make sure the spray is appropriate for the material of your artificial plant and allow around 24 hours to dry.
Dusting and keeping the plants clean always helps. Placing plants in a location similar to where a natural plant would grow makes them more believable.
Surrounding the plants with real-life soil, dirt, sand, rocks or moss makes the plants appear more natural. Pairing several different fake plants together also adds authenticity to your faux plant garden.
The best artificial plants depend on their setting and placement. For a study area, succulents or a flowering plant such as an orchid can work well. Potted zanzibars, orchids and bamboo create a soft, sophisticated and relaxing feel for bedrooms.
Living rooms are where you may want to add texture to your furniture and decor. Ficus, bamboo and palms are commonly used to beautify these areas.

Artificial green wall panels can be mixed and matched. It is recommended to choose panels with similar colours to ensure the blending is seamless. Avoid using vastly different panels unless you intentionally want a varied pattern, as the square nature of the panels may become more noticeable.
